DESCRIPTION:This talk looks at a series of paintings from the 16th to the 18th centuries which feature gardens, and helps the audience to see beyond the obvious.  Are the pictures useful evidence for the history of gardens?  Are they `accurate’ descriptions?  What else might they be telling us?\nThis is one of a series of eight weekly lectures on art history.\nYou can buy a ticket for all eight for just £40 here\nor you buy a ticket for this lecture only for £7.50 here ( https://app.tickettailor.com/event/ev_6745566 ).\nDoors open at 1:30 pm for a 2 pm start. The session is two hours long including an interval when we will serve tea and coffee.\nGetting to the Leatherhead Institute:\nThe Institute is at the top of Leatherhead High Street, KT22 8AH, on the corner with Leret Way.
