SUMMARY:Art History Lecture – William Blake “Romantic, Radical, Visionary” by Jessica Saraga
DESCRIPTION:William Blake fiercely criticised the social problems of his age, which he saw as the result of industrialisation’s materialism and pursuit of profit. While his poetry exposed poverty and exploitation, his art turned toward the mystical, using a personal mythology and distinctive visual language. Though often an outsider, Blake’s creativity never waned. He spent his life expressing his visions, inventing new techniques, and producing work with remarkable energy.\nHeld in the Abraham Dixon Hall, Friday 13th March 2pm – 4pm, with a break for refreshments approx 2.55pm. All lectures will commence at 2pm.
