SUMMARY:Art History Lecture – Bauhaus by Anne Anderson
DESCRIPTION:After the First World War, the Bauhaus set out to create modern, functional design for a new society. Inspired by the clean lines of modern industry, it promoted light-filled , uncluttered buildings and everyday objects free from unnecessary decoration. Artists like Kandinsky and Klee and developed colour theory, while Marcel Breur pioneered tubular-steel furniture and mass-production ideas.\nWith the rise of facism, many Bauhaus teachers emigrated to the US, where their ideas shaped the International Style that dominated architecture until the 1970s.\nHeld in the Abraham Dixon Hall, Friday 27th March 2pm – 4pm, with a break for refreshments approx 2.55pm. All lectures will commence at 2pm. Individual lectures £7.50 each or block book all eight for £40. \nYou can book seats for all the lectures, including all eight, via Ticket Tailor click here ( https://www.tickettailor.com/events/leatherheadcommunityassociation1/2031078 ).\nAlternatively tickets can be booked by emailing lca1@leatherheadca.org.uk ( mailto:lca1@leatherheadca.org.uk ) or visiting the office in person on weekday mornings. Tickets can also be purchased on arrival at the lecture (card payment preferred) but we encourage pre-booking where possible. \n\n
