Art History Lecture – Watteau and Hopper – “Game of Pairs Dreamworks” by Ronnie Ireland

This lecture compares and contrasts two seemingly very different paintings – “Embarkation for Cythera” (1717) by Antoine Watteau and “New York Movie” (1939) by Edward Hopper. Seemingly worlds apart, there are fascinating correspondences and contrasts when you look more deeply. In turn we learn more about the artists and the societies in which they worked.

Held in the Abraham Dixon Hall, Friday 20th March 2pm – 4pm, with a break for refreshments approx 2.55pm. All lectures will commence at 2pm. Individual lectures £7.50 each or block book all eight for £40.

You can book seats for all the lectures, including all eight, via Ticket Tailor click here.
Alternatively tickets can be booked by emailing lca1@leatherheadca.org.uk or visiting the office in person on weekday mornings. Tickets can also be purchased on arrival at the lecture (card payment preferred) but we encourage pre-booking where possible.

The event is finished.
