Underground Cathedrals – but ‘Mind the Gap’

A lecture by London guide and lecturer Ian Swankie

The world’s first underground railway has a unique heritage of architecture, ingenious design, powerful advertising posters and unique calligraphy. Ian Swankie’s talk plots the early development of the Underground, examines the legacy of Frank Pick and Charles Holden, looks at some of the iconic posters and celebrates the award-winning architecture of the modern tube in the Jubilee Line Extension.

This is the Leatherhead Community Association’s contribution to the 2025 Heritage Open Days.

Doors open at 7pm for 7:30pm.

The talk is free but you must book a ticket in advance.  Do that in the LCA office on a weekday morning, or online using https://app.tickettailor.com/events/leatherheadcommunityassociation1/1836678
