Art History Lectures(with a difference)

Friday 3 February marks the return of our Art History lectures. Each week for 5 weeks we are joined by a different speaker to talk about an interesting area of art. Some weeks focus on a particular artist such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh (10 February), others are about a movement or art politics. They all promise to be entertaining and informative, even for those with little art knowledge.

The talks last 2 hours, with a break for refreshments and take place at 2pm in the Abraham Dixon Hall. Tickets are £7.50 each.

Programme of events:

3 February- Life is Squares: The Bloomsbury Group and Omega Workshops by Anne Anderson

10 February- Charles Rennie Mackintosh by Ronnie Ireland

17 February- The ‘Hierarchy of Genres’: the Royal Academies’ high art pecking order of subjects in Western Art and how it was challenged by Jessica Saraga

24 February- Edward Hopper by Ronnie Ireland

3 March- Danish Art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries by Tammy Ellis

More information on each talk can be found on pages 12 to 15 of the newsletter here.
