LCA London Walk – Empire in a Cup: History of Tea

EMPIRE IN A CUP – A HISTORY OF TEA
Wednesday 24 June at 11.30am

£14.50 per member

The global impact of this innocent brew will astound you. It has a dark and intriguing history which is hidden amongst the City of London streets and alleyways and in a worldwide itinerary of China, India and Ceylon.

Our tour is guided by a former Governor of St Helena and will take you to where tea was first served in London. From these small beginnings and with the involvement of the East India Company, the thirst for tea and its profits turned it into a national and global obsession and shaped the Empire.
