For many artists, the ethereal nature of nightfall provides the perfect scene for the atmosphere they are trying to create. Artists such as Whistler, Munch, Bellows, Van Gogh, Paula Rego and many more found themselves drawn to this time of day. We shall also consider some night-time photography alongside the paintings featured.
